Mother Tongue

Why so many of them argue on this issue, what is that so caring about other people words. If the professor said “all Chinese and Indian should not study their own mother tongue in primary school.” Ask him who is he, what is his name, and from where he come from? Why should we care about those who had lost his culture and behave like something else. If they wanted to be extraordinary, let them go ahead. We just fall into his trap and make him famous. This peoples are those wanted to be famous and having intention to get something in the future, therefore, they create something so that everybody know him well.

I am sure all of the Chinese and Tamil educated representative in the cabinet and Parliament house will protect the learning of mother tongue privilege for the people,
Because they remember where they come from and what family they are from? Only those who had forgotten their own mother tongue and own culture will propose not to learn their own mother tongue and culture. They are not civilizing. They only think of how much they can earn and how much people pay him.

Just like some people wanted to be famous, so they talk a lot on the sensitive issues. They make themselves against the law and arrested. Everybody think they are the hero, they fight for our rights. But are they the real hero, are they really fight for our rights and benefits. Who will get more benefit and more money at the end of the day?

What I am suggesting is, wait till those people give us something, not what they promise but what they give us into our hand, what we receive and put into our own pocket is truth and genuine. Why should we trust what they will give us. We are still striving for the future, for our own future, but they have already move into the big bungalow, using luxury vehicle, bodyguards everywhere.

Most of the Chinese wanted to learn Chinese, and most of the Indian wanted to learn Tamil. Why must we raise this issue, why not these people said Malay should not learn Malay language. Everybody should learn English.

Those people are those best in trading business, they wanted to be the hero in some other community.

Is Your Meeting Effective

I am sure many of you have experience in chairing the meeting or attended meeting. Before the meeting, the organizer prepare the previous minutes, print out and distribute to others. We had the meeting started with the chairman welcome speech, and then confirmation of previous meeting minutes.

All of the while, the meeting will start half an hour late because of the poor attendance, this is most commonly in the association or any private organization. Everyone will start chit chatting for a while before they start the meeting. some of them will rise some issue for discussion and some of them will argue on the point, it is not wrong to bring out your own point of view and ideas for discussion, the only things is, sometime people don’t feel comfortable when others query his idea or need more clarification. They feel offended, they feel not respected. They think they are the boss, so everyone must follow his idea and eventually, that is not for discussion but an instruction. Someone may said, he or she is a strong and powerful leader, everybody follow and support his idea, whenever he rise a proposal. His idea is always the gold directive.

Meeting can be an hour, a day or few days, depend on the tropics and the level of the meeting. Normal people hold meeting for few hours, to discuss on the management issue, new project, training or corrective action. Business man discuss about the investment, business trend, economic tropics or entertainment, they may took half day or one day, and community leader discuss about the social and community issue, public relationship, security, investment , employment, education and so on.

Some boss hold meeting for few hours and their staff standing there for few hours too, they are not discussing but scolding, there is no such things as idea changing, problem solving, but just to listen to him because he is the boss, he pay salary. He never allow his staff to sit down and discuss the problem, the process problem, the quality problem, he said he is the best, whatever he said “is good” means good. I know one boss, a manufacturer as well as investor at few Asian countries. He is the type of boss that; his word is law, whatever he said, his staff must follow, he give instruction in the meeting and most of the time he is the only one talking. Someone will get scolding if trying to point out the problem. Therefore, the meeting is always no solution, there is no value created in the meeting for the issue discussed. Waste of time and frustrating. His philosophy is “tighten it day after day, squeezes them until nothing left.”

I never said meeting must not discuss everything and go through everything carefully. But the meeting should be friendly, idea changing, and create value. I always believe that respecting others is just respecting ourselves. We should explain our ideas and persuade other to accept them but not using the power and force to accept it. An ideal being carry out with acceptance from the heart will produce a better result then forcing them to accept and implement.

Time is gold, try to avoid delay and wasting time on some minor issues. Discuss on the urgent and important issues and settle them fast with accuracy. Bring out the implementing schedule and format for the people so that they won’t feel difficulty in implementing them.
Another important issue should be remember in the meeting is not to throw paper, throw table and chair, these will cause trouble and accident can happen at any time. Just because this is not our culture. Human should not behave like animal. Never use your power to threaten other or putting this in your mouth always “I am the boss”.

Work performance and efficiency

I went to the education department at Selayang Mall for transferring my daughter to Rawang, I feel very surprise that their service is so fast and good. The way they handle the document is very much difference from the past. They are good, patient and friendly. The officer Puan Rohannah corrected the mistake for me and just informing me the mistake, and she briefly explain to me on the procedure. The whole process took less than 5 minutes. I am very happy and appreciate it.

Call back the memory at last time, not the olden day just few years back, I remember, it is a nightmare in going to government department especially to JPJ for road tax renewal. A very long queue in front of all counter and waiting for hour to pay the money. Half of a day gone at that office is normal in that time. I really don’t know since when, the government servant had improve in efficiency, may be last year, I am not very sure, because I wanted for my income tax refund for almost half a year, someone told me to go back to the office where I open my file, so I went there with my letter and they told me to go home and wait for the processing procedure. I waited one month and I got my cheque. But I remember, I request for help when I saw a road accident on my way to my office last year, I waited for one hour and no one from the police force or ambulance turn up, the casualty was sent to hospital by someone pass by. From this case, I saw a difference story, not all the government department are improving. Some of them are still behaving the same, they think they are on top of everybody. They use their power to frighten the people. But they never say they are no good. Just recently only, his boss stop the campaign because his subordinate didn’t inform him before the operation. So this is from the discipline body. This is the way they have. But the blame is we are no good, we don’t follow the procedure.

In fact, we should learn to improve our productivity and efficiency, not only in private sector but to all. Learn from others, benchmark our competitors, benchmark others departments. We should open our mind and accept new ideas and complaints. I am not worry of others people complaint, I learn from the complaint and I learn from the crisis. I like challenge because I can learn a lot and create new ideas from the crisis. Crisis is a chance to the creative person, but crisis is the end of the world to those non creative and non aggressive.

Challenge ourselves to a higher peak. Put our aim higher to achieve higher. This is what I always remember and remind myself. I was a diploma holder and now I am a PhD holder, as well as Certified trainer under PSMB, the seminars that I am providing are fully claimable under SBL scheme under HRDF fund. I never give up even thought so many times I fall down but I get up myself and move forward.

Social Problem

I might be old fashion in my wearing, my hair style, or even my thinking. But then what, as long as I earn a good living, a respected position in the organization and in the community.

They are so many of them saying , they are in the front line in fashion, so what, what they got and what is their position and where they stand? Some of the mother wearing a shirt is just like the short belongs to his youngest daughter. And the pant is just like not enough cloth.

We cannot blame the fashion designer, because the fashion designer didn’t force them to wear it. They want to be famous, they want business, so they say everything is good. The manufacturer didn’t force you to buy them. The only problems is the person cannot think and judge properly, they are unable to justify whether which is more suitable for them and which is more suitable for his children. If the parent cannot show a good example to the children, how can we expect the young one be good, so the senior should show a good thinking and behavior to the junior. If a mother always wear like going to the dinner of fashion show, how can you expect the young one be normal. She will go everywhere to look for money to satisfy their needs. There’s why so many standing at the corner or at the stair case telling people that they can provide services. If their are not satisfied, they will make a step further to get more money, there’s how crime come in.

Influences from the senior is not the only matter that affect the junior, our education system do affect the thinking of the youngsters. We learn something about respecting the parents, and follow what they said, but nowadays, our school teacher said, do what you think is right, ask for your right. Look at our university students, they like to get involve in the politic more than in the academic project. They go on strike, they ask for this and ask for that. They get themselves involve in the management, they want to get involve in the policy. Why they want to get involve in the management issue, why they get involve in the appointment of school chancellor. To me, this is just because they are influence by someone, by those irresponsible people, they wanted to see things in trouble. They are looking for their own benefit and profit only. They don’t want to see other getting better, so they start influencing other to create trouble. The most important thing for the student is to learn and gain more knowledge. Learn how to behave and have discipline. Why they are so particular on who is the chancellor. As long as the school policy and the school operating system is there, the school can still operate with any chancellor. As a student, their responsibility is to learn and gain knowledge, if they can’t even behave well in the school, how can we expect them to behave well in the society and community. This is a failure of education system.

When we sit down and watch the TV program at night, sometimes, we may see some program from oversea like, Europe, America, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Indonesia and so on. Have anyone of us carefully analyze them, whether they are good for our youngster or not. Some of the program can damage the thinking of our youngster, and we didn’t realize that’s ours youngster cannot differentiate what is right and what is wrong, they think this is the world, this is human right, they think this is fashion. So they follow, smoking, drunk, fighting for woman, disturbing other, rude and no discipline. They learn to show their temper whenever they are not happy. They learn to speed fast on the street, and act like in the picture, they think they are the hero, they are professional and well capable. This is where our government should get involve in controlling all the program, check all contents before releasing them to the public. Look at the concert show, especially from the European, the way they dress and the way they dance is very misleading. Ours youngster will do the same thing and said this is the trend.

The organizer and sponsor will seldom said or care about the social responsibility because they want business, they consider only how much they invest and how much they get in return. Can you imagine what will happen if our child take a bottle of water and twist on the street disturbing other. Can you imagine, how many of us together with our youngster get damage by this slogan “have magnum, have possibility.” (I just translate from Mandarin) They are teaching us to gamble, but our government is very quiet on this. May be our government need more tax from them, so they are allow.

I just read a news from Singapore, saying that someone saw his classmate standing at the street for ….., what is that so unacceptable, we have a lot too. Prostitute is every where in this world. May be some of them think prodigious and some of them are profligate, so they make a start on this and cannot turn back. Prostitute can survive because there is a need in the market. Man needs or family problem? No communication between husband and wife, or both doesn’t respect each other, or TV program teach us to look for prostitute, for more fun or more exciting. We have to educate them, tell them, this is not the only way to earn a living, but most them will said, this is the only way to earn fast money. This is the only way that can support their expenditure on new dress, cigarette, gambling and alcohol.

There are many more which damaging the mind set of us especially to our young ones, the most important one could be freedom, freedom doesn’t means we can do anything we like, we have our own culture, we cannot follow strictly or copy everything from the European. We have our own Asian standard of living and culture. We should respect our senior in our own family or any where. We should learn from our leaders and respect the law, and we must learn to appreciate. That’s how we build a healthy society and family.

Do you really mean "Yang Berhidmat"

I apologize the wording use below, I don't mean to hurt anyone here. I went through the news and I found some of the Yang Berhormat said: He or She is Yang Berhidmat, especially for those who had just won the seat. It doesn't matter what party they are from? The most important thing is: Do they really mean it "Berhidmat", I personally observe some of them are just talking only, they don't really provide the service to the public and community. I live in Rawang, so I really put an eye on our YB here, and I always found that she is not doing as what is expected.

Her group organized a dinner to rise fund for his office expenditure. She spent the money on the association and temples, and leave the infrastructure behind unattended. Road light not repair, eventhough we have complaint so many times, leaving the resident walking in the dark lonely street.

And I recall, the incident at the flat in Rawang Perdana, the roof was blow off during a heavy storm, the trees trunk were remove by MPS, the light was repaired by TNB and the roof was temperary cover with canvas.

A meeting was call after this to solve the problem for this flat, and complaints were recorded but then there is no follow up by the YB and she said she is busy you call my PA, and his PA said wait for YB. I can't understand why this cannot be settled by just making a call to the developer and the maintenace office to settle the problem on rubbish disposing, drainage cover missing, hand rail damage and the sleeping compound light. Why the YB want to delay in solving this problem, isn't that they are the poor people which has not much financial support to her or something else which I may not know. Sincerely speaking, I had so many times request to provide my helping hand but always rejected because of my high qualification. Why she is so worry, I don't understand, I am not going to take his seat in the next election, why she is so worry about me?

The blasting issue in Rawang Perdana 2, She agreed to arrange a meeting with the developer, but then always claiming the YDP of MPS is not free, for almost six months. The blasting activity had resulted the value of the houses drop because of the cracks on the wall.

Road not repair, motorcylist had to be very careful while travelling from Rawang Perdana 2 to Bukit Rawang jaya. Soil from road side being wash to the road after a heavy rain fall.

There are so many more, and not solve, people feeling tired in making complaint in his office, because of no response. People asking why we vote her, She seems know nothing, is she going to improve or not. But then, she is saying probelm is getting less and less because of no complaint.

What is the meaning of "Berhidmat", I thing I have to learn more and find out more on this word. Whether its means providing services, providing assistance to the community and the people or providing a stage for her to be wellknown and famous. To me the word "YB" should mean "Yang Berhormat" for her.

Our work force

That day, I went to labour office and conduct an interview for operator position, from 8am to 4pm. there's only 22 candidates coming in looking for the job, some are looking for the position of lorry driver and some are looking for the position of clerk and operator.


From their qualification I read through, one of them is university graduate, and she is looking for the position of operator, asking for the salary of RM600.00, she is graduated in the field of agriculture, and she want to have some experiences in other areas, therefore, she look for something else.


And one looking for the position of lorry driver and asking for a salary of RM1500 without experiences, not well familiar with the route and location of certain areas.


Some of them asking for RM600 with hostel and transport facility. They wanted the company to arrange a car to sent them to work because they don't their own transportation.



Summarize all this, I would like to said, our young generation would like to have something extra, more than what is suppose to be, but they never think about their own qualification, their own working experiences, their capability. Can you believe that or not, an employer will paid them more than what is stated or budget to someone without experiences and low academic qualification. I should make myself clear that, the low academic qualification means Primary 6, and some of them are form three only, they don't even complete form five. When I ask them why don't they complete form five: they said no interest in study. Is there any employer willing to pay a operator for RM800 or higher for primary 6 only or you wanted to hire someone without form five to be his office clerk.


I feel very sorry to those who think and make a decision to stop schooling before completion his form five or SPM. It is very difficult for them to get a job and earn a living to support the whole family, what happen when this people get married, when they have their own children, how are they going to support them? I am sure our young generation never think of this, they think they can work, work hard and will be able to survive.


Our education department seems didn't notice of this, because I still can read news saying that some students are being suspended for poor discipline or even terminated from school. I understand that, some of this student may cause a lot of trouble to the school and to the teacher, as well as to other student in the school. Now, the question is: can the discipline issue be settled after terminating them and leave tehm outside, whether they can learn from it? or they are getting worse in the community. Are we creating another problem for the society? or are we just pushing the problem to others? Yes, the school sack him and the school seems settle his problem, no more trouble student, but where did this student go? We are not solving the problem? The answer is NO, we are just passing the problem to others.


What I want to propose is, our education department should make sure the student complete their schooling until SPM, this should be the minimum education required in the market. I would rather hire someone with SPM than a person without SPM for the same position. At least I can plan to train him and promote him for some other position in the future.


Secondly, If we can provide some training like, clerical work training, driver training, store keeping and so on, so that this people can applied all this knowledge to their job application rather than written down: No experience.

Basically, what I want to point out is, not only the qualification of our labour force does not match the requirement of the employer, but our employer do need to change their style in recruiting and maintaining them.

I come across some of the workers resign after working one month or few weeks, they found that they are doing the same thing everyday, they feel boring, their friend call them or they don't like the environment. Some employers think that they are business man, investor, so they want a big return on every single cent invested. They expect the staff to work seven days a week without overtime payment, and they even instruct the staff to work 9 hours a day, without overtime salary. What they claim is, the economic situation is bad, so everybody must work more, or he is working on Sunday too, why not the staff? I feel very surprise why we still have this type of employer in this day. Our labour law said, we must give one day off or pay overtime, and still this thing happen without any action from the labour office. Some of the employers do practice salary cutting, they jsut deduct the staff salary whenever they don't like or they feel not happy with the staff. Warning letter being issue to the staff for not satisfying the management requirement only.

I agree the government wanted to maintain a good relation with the employers and the investors for providing jobs opportunity to the people, therefore, they just keep one eye close and leave them continuing doing these to the workers. When we look back, do all the job opportunity given to the local people or the foreigner, can our local people stand this type of situation and condition. If they are not happy, they went oversea for opportunity, as illegal worker ending with our people work as illegal worker in other country and we need to hire foreigner and create so many social problem or they creating some way to satify their own spending need. Is that the situation we want?

I would like to share this with all those who is facing this type of problem, simply deduct salary, no overtime salary or no off day. Please write in so that they everybody know them and share them.
